Say goodbye to Hill House as the 2018 Netflix hit will now be an anthology series. Netflix announced that the follow up to “The Haunting of Hill House” will be titled “The Haunting of Bly Manor” and will be based on the 1898 novel “The Turn Of The Screw” by Henry James.
“The Turn Of The Screw” follows a governess at a country mansion in Essex who becomes convinced that the building is haunted while caring for two children – a plot that’s certainly similar with Hill House. “The Turn Of The Screw” has had multiple adaptations throughout the years, most notably 2001’s “The Others.”
In an interview with EW last October, Mike Flanagan, the series showrunner who also directed all 10 episodes of the first season, said that he’s “done” with Hill House. “As far as I’ve ever been concerned with this, the story of the Crain family is told. It’s done,” said Flanagan. He then went on to add that he loved the idea of an anthology. Well this certainly confirms it all.
