MOVIE GUIDE: Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2018 Entries

We’re barely a week now for the second year of “Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino,” which is scheduled from August 15-21, 2018.

Last year’s festival proved to be a success, having extended its week-long run thanks to the #ExtendPPP campaign on social media. One takeaway from Year One’s entries was the award-winning “Birdshot” by Mikhail Red, which was later submitted as the Philippines’ official Best Foreign Film entry for 2018’s Oscars.

Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa WiFi

Starring: Sue Ramirez, Jameson Blake, Markus Paterson

Synopsis:

When a teenage girl develops an allergy to Wi-Fi, she is forced to live in a remote province, pushing her to reevaluate her relationships and the boy she believes is her one true love.
 
 
 

The Day After Valentine’s

Starring: Bela Padilla, JC Santos

Synopsis:

Kai (JC Santos), a distraught man meets Lani (Bela Padilla), a strong, confident woman who seems to have answers to all of life’s most difficult questions. Kai realizes that with Lani’s wisdom and “go-get” attitude, he may be able to fix everything in his life.

The story follows four brothers, known as “Bakwit Boys,” and their struggles after a super typhoon ravaged their community in Isabela.

 They went on to evacuate to their grandfather’s place, where they meet a rich city girl who discovers their musical talent and helps them reach success.

Madilim ang Gabi

Starring: Gina Alajar, Philip Salvador, Felix Roco

Synopsis:

A Filipino couple become caught up in their country’s violent drug when their son goes missing.

Pinay Beauty

Starring: Chai Fonacier, Edgar Allan Guzman

Synopsis:

The movie talks about crazy love and the love that everyone aspires for. It touches on beauty of face and beauty of friendship.

Signal Rock

Starring: Christian Bables and Nading Josef

Synopsis:

The story revolves around the character of Intoy, an island boy who basically wants to keep his family intact. 

 

We Will Not Die Tonight

Starring: Erich Gonzales, Alex Medina, Max Eigenmann

Synopsis:

Kray plays a stuntwoman who is getting no respect from her current boss. When her old gang encourages her to do a drug run for easy money, she reluctantly goes along. However, she soon finds out that the crooks are actually running kids as contraband. A bloody fight ensues, and soon she and her friends are on the run for their lives
