“Hi, I’m Chucky. Wanna Play?” [goosebumps]
The remake for every 80’s kid’s nightmare has started production with director Lars Klevberg posting (and then taking down) on his personal Instagram account a photo of the script for “Child’s Play” and, of course, Chucky’s knife.
If you were one of the lucky kids who grew up not seeing the 1988 film and don’t know what it’s about, “Child’s Play” is the story of a kids’ doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer. “Chucky,” the doll, then goes on a killing rampage. It was released during the Halloween of 1988 and was directed and co-written by Tom Holland.
The “Chucky” franchise is one of the most successful and long lasting ones to date, with 6 other films in its roster: Child’s Play 2 (1990), Child’s Play 3 (1991), Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), and more recently Cult of Chucky (2017).
The remake is eyeing Liv Tyler for the female lead, according to a recent report. No one has yet been cast, however, and a crew has yet to be confirmed.
Aside from a big screen remake, original creator Don Mancini is also working on a TV series based on the first film. Original “Chucky” actor Brad Dourif will return to voice the creepy doll.
